Possible World Discovery Session Report - Nov. 20 2025 - Emergent Possibilities

Date: November 20, 2025

Location: Online (Zoom)

Hosting Team: Aya Matsuyama (Australia), Sekan (Tokyo), Asuka (Osaka)

🌏 Session Overview

"This is not a lecture. You are not Passengers; you are Crew."

With these opening words from the host, the Possible World Discovery Session began. The theme of our journey was "Awareness of Possibilities and Action."

Members gathered from diverse backgrounds and locations—Darwin, Tokyo, Osaka, Chiba, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima—embarking on a shared journey to explore their individual possibilities.

🗝️ Three Important Things for Enjoying the Journey

To co-create this space effectively, we shared three core principles to guide us:

  1. Be Crew: Don't just sit and wait to arrive at the destination; move the space together.

  2. No Right or Wrong: Every opinion and every half-formed thought is a vital resource for awareness.

  3. Loosen Your Mental Framework: Notice your unconscious limits and assumptions, and try letting them go.

🧠 Engaging Head, Heart, and Hara (Gut)

As a warm-up before entering the game, we tuned the three tools we all possess: Head (Thinking/Analysis), Heart (Emotion), and Hara (Intuition/Gut Feeling).

We posed the question: "What do you want to eat for lunch tomorrow?"

The results were a fascinating experiment: the answer derived from thinking (Head), the answer from feeling (Heart), and the answer from the gut (Hara) were different for each participant. We confirmed that while we usually use these faculties separately, today was about using all of them to fully savor the experience.

🔄 Check-in: Unconscious Assumptions vs. New Possibilities

The core of this session was becoming aware of "Unconscious Assumptions." Here are some of the limiting assumptions participants shared, contrasted with the "New Possibilities" they discovered:

Unconscious Assumption (Before)

New Possibility (After)

As a host, I should hold back my own opinions.

Even as a host, I will speak up as a participant.

As a staff member, I shouldn't cross the line.

I will take the brakes off and try crossing boundaries.

If I'm not successful, I have no right to speak.

Even if imperfect, I will restart and speak up.

I shouldn't trust people / I must help those in trouble.

It's okay to trust / If I'm struggling, it's okay not to help.

If asked, I must answer.

If I don't want to answer, I don't have to.

I'm shy, so I'll stay quiet.

I will try talking to people I don't know.

🎮 Game Experience: Possible World

We then entered the simulation game, "Possible World"—a mirror of our reality. While individual goals (Wealth, Time, Will) and world conditions (Economy, Environment, Society) intertwined in complex ways, participants made their choices.

Session Highlights:

  • The Silent Breakout Room:

In one room, the game proceeded in silence. "I shouldn't hinder the other person's progress" and "I tried to read the room" were the driving thoughts. We caught a glimpse of a microcosm of the real world, where excessive consideration results in a lack of communication.

  • The Gap Between Game and Reality: Deep insights were shared in the chat, such as: "In the game, I could ask for help naturally, but in reality, I feel I need to prepare first." "In the game, I operated on the premise that everyone was an 'ally/understander,' but I assume that's not the case in reality."

Emergent World Results:

3 out of 5 participants achieved their numerical goals.

💡 Key Insights & Takeaways

The reflection after the game went deeper than just game strategy; it evolved into a dialogue about our attitudes toward life and work.

1. The Curse of "I Must Be Proper" Many members realized that roles and self-definitions like "It's meaningless if not perfect," "Because I'm the host," or "Because I'm staff," were actually narrowing their own possibilities.

2. Trust is a "Choice" Participants shifted from the assumption that "I can only rely on myself" to new options like "Saying it's tough when it's tough" or "Consulting a trusted friend." The safe environment of the game allowed them to experiment with "trusting others"—a choice they might not usually make.

3. How We Relate to the World Assumptions like "Everyone should be equal" became visible, and new behavioral guidelines were born, such as "Just start with the people your heart connects with." Awareness grew not just regarding personal goals, but also regarding how we relate to those around us (Social Indicators).

🚀 Next Steps

At the end of the session, everyone shared their "Next Step."

  • "Clarify my goals and communicate them."

  • "First, ask and listen to see what can be born between you and me."

  • "Say it's tough when it feels tough."

The experience in Possible World is not just a simulation. We closed the session by vowing to nurture the seeds of "New Possibilities" found here in our respective "Real Worlds."

Thank you to all the Crew members who joined us for this wonderful voyage!
