The Transformative Power of "Kizuki": A "Possible World Jam" Session
Today's Possible World Jam! Session was characterized by its participatory and introspective nature, with a strong emphasis on fostering "Kizuki" (insights). Through a simulation game, participants collaborated to create a world, navigating the complexities of balancing economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and societal well-being while striving to achieve individual goals.
The post-game reflection was a multi-faceted process, delving into non-verbal approaches. Participants engaged in a meditative practice, focusing on bodily sensations like breath, chest, and belly. They then selected a character to represent their current feelings, and shared these reflections in pairs, emphasizing active listening. A particularly insightful element was the question,
"What would we do differently if we had a second chance?",
prompting deeper thought on possibilities and personal agency. The session fostered an atmosphere of openness, welcoming diverse perspectives and opinions with the guiding principle that there are "no right or wrong answers".
Participants' feedback highlighted the positive impact of the session. One participant expressed a feeling of being "filled bit by bit" after hearing another's sharing, emphasizing the importance of contribution and connection. Another participant found an "Aha moment" when an in-game goal contradicted their real-life work, leading them to appreciate the importance of remaining open to opposing views and seeking to understand first.
Both participants praised the casual "coffee chat" format, suggesting it's an accessible way to break from routine thinking and connect with others. Another player noted that she chose not to work hard to achieve her goal due to the group's composition, trusting the participants and the process—a departure from typical time-limited sessions. Notably, the session also connected an experienced 2030 SDGs Game facilitator with an individual who is about to undertake a 2030 SDGs facilitator training course in Switzerland. This serendipitous connection led to a geographical link, with the experienced facilitator having family in the city where the other individual is located, potentially paving the way for interesting future developments. The session underscored the transformative potential of "Kizuki" and its applicability in various fields, including leadership training and sustainability awareness

3. Participant Voices
"I felt filled bit by bit after hearing another's sharing, emphasizing the importance of contribution and connection. My only regret is that I couldn't connect to give all my blue principles before time ran out."
"The game gave me an Aha moment of ensuring that I remain open to direct opposites. It also shifted my perspective, as a situation I initially interpreted as 'hurt' was actually 'a positive view of filling up what was empty' after hearing another participant's insight. I absolutely agree that this session is easy to do and a great way to get your brain out of the rut it gets into. It can really help people find their tribe and realize that sometimes you can feel really alone."
"I appreciate the casual 'coffee chat' format. It's accessible to gather a few friends, no matter where they are, and have a small game session. I even joined during working hours because I felt I 'should be there,' and it was worth it. This approach can be a great way to make the 'unknown to known,' just give people a patronage to try."
