The "Possible World" session helped students perceive English as a tool to connect with the world and realize that their choices create a tangible impact. Conducted in a hybrid format, pre- and post-session data and instructor feedback demonstrated significant improvements in students' agency and meaningful ripple effects into their daily lives.

On August 24, we held a Possible World session in Fuchu, Tokyo, using physical cards — normally run online, this time prompted by P-Lab member Aya's temporary return from Darwin, Australia. Eighteen participants gathered to build a world together, even taking on an unplanned third round.

As a decade-long global project concludes, I am experiencing the stark contrast between the fast-paced, low-context logic of English and the profound, high-context Japanese concept of "Ma" (the interval). Menzies School of Health Research held a hybrid 'Possible World' workshop to foster collective impact. Long expressed in Japanese as Haraochi, this deep internalisation is the quiet mechanism that turns fleeting information into authentic Manabi, naturally cultivating readiness for action.
